A little about us…

SRI

Hi, my name is Sri. I’m currently a sophomore (class of 2003) at Ridge High School. Here’s a little about me.
First, I absolutely love music. I started playing the trumpet in 6th grade, and I switched over to tuba in 8th. But more than that, I just love listening to music of absolutely any kind. I’m more interested in orchestral and band music, than anything other, however I can enjoy almost anything- even stuff in different languages. Also, I love to run. I don’t run track or anything like that, but I run almost every day on my own. I also enjoy participating in some other clubs at Ridge, which make my life even more enjoyable.
Academically, I’m somewhat of a math nerd. However, I usually like history-related courses the best. They give you a sense of who you are and what really shaped the world into what it is today. I like to think of myself of as a good writer, however that thought usually doesn’t extend to many other people . I’m definitely not the hardest-working kid, however I do actually enjoy school most of the time.

Kevin.

Hey, I'm Kevin. I'm a sophomore at Ridge High School. I'm in about half of the same classes as Sri, and that's basically how we know each other. I'm the web page guy for Reach Out. I decided to do it because I really liked the idea of it, and this could be my way of helping out. Here's a little bit about myself. First, I love movies, in general. I really loved Fight Club, which is my favorite movie, and now I work in a movie theater. Second, I love to ski. It's pretty much my favorite sport. As for my artistic side, I love anime and I love to talk about it, as well. Also, for some other points, I play the piano and enjoy music a lot. I'm also involved in TIGS and HIGH, two clubs that focus on anti-drug efforts, which is an issue that is very important to me.

Smrithi

Hi, my name is Smrithi, and I am currently a junior (class of 2002) at Ridge High School. Like Sri, I am very much into music. Ever since 3rd grade, I have played the violin in our school orchestra. I have also been playing the veena ever since 3rd grade, an Indian classical musical instrument from Southern India which I have had the privilege of giving several performances and concerts on. I have also won many regional competitions each year. I also enjoy listening to quite a variety of music; I listen to anything from classical to pop to hip hop/rap/R & B to Indian music. I also love to run. I had been a part of the track team during my freshman and sophomore year, and plan to run on the team next year as well. I am also a member of the school's Academic League, and I am the president of the Asian American Club. I also enjoy volunteering at the VA Hospital in Lyons, New Jersey. I also enjoy writing very much, and write poetry a lot. I will be spending this summer in India studying Indian classical music on the veena as well as spending a large portion of my time volunteering at an orphanage looking after children who don't have anyone to look out for them. I know it will be a worthwhile experience.
